[Karaoke] Karaoke no ikikata*
*The way to go to the karaoke
Ok now I think I gathered enough info to explain how to go to the karaoke
When going to the karaoke, you'll have to tell how many people will join and how long you would like to stay.
Students can have a reduction but you need to show your student card.
Then apparently if your phone is registered you can have the same reduction too but I didn't look into this (1. I'm sure that if you subscribe you'll receive lots a messages 2. I'm a student so I don't care XD)
Depending on the time spent and hour sometimes it's more interesting to choose the "free time" (フリータイム ) option. It's all you can sing
Next to that you have some options like all you can drink but the prices depends on the karaoke branch.
Finally, you can pick a karaoke system. They don't ask this question automatically but when they do you have the choice between 4 systems:
- LiveDAM
- DAM
- Joysound f1
- Crosso (Joysound)
I don't know all the differences and subtleties but in short: DAM and LiveDAM have the same database while Joysound and Crosso have a different one (that's kind of obvious now XD)
Joysound has more foreign songs but DAM has more versions of the Japanese songs (like the orchestral version of God knows *_*)
Searching for a song using their remote control is quite a challenge (Even if it's a lot better than looking in the book. Trust me. I've been there XD)
This is why it might be worthwhile to check the database content online:
And if you create an account, and save the songs to your personal playlist, you will save a lot of time at the karaoke.
In 2010 I simply took note of the karaoke number of my two favourite songs XD Yeah, old way.
It's a pity that some songs can be found in one system only but being able to find some rare songs is awesome.
Ah small note, on the websites sometimes you can see this version "生音". I'm not sure but apparently it's the original version of the song while you can have a re-edited version of it (= better quality 良音 ). Source: Differences between versions?
If I gather more info I will update this note XD But yeah, there isn't much to add... Except maybe how to use the rimocon or add special effects or use the vocal guide
But that will be for later... Maybe

[Karaoke] I tested for you the IchiKara
"IchiKara", or "EmoKara" as I dubbed it (because I couldn't properly read), is a karaoke for lonely souls shy karaoke fans.
The prices are not special but it's interesting to notice that after 22:00 you can sing as much as you want for only ¥1 000. Also there is no reduction for students (by the way, when asking that I didn't expect to use that quickly a word I learnt in class today XD).
Soft drinks are included.
It consists of several small rooms where you have a small TV, a chair and headphones (note: you can use your own headphones - I did so XD). I was in the pink section XD Japan is really weird...
In each room there is one microphone and one remote control but there is no phone (to order food & drinks) and I didn't manage to switch off the heater.
I was a bit disappointed I expected something way better (I thought IchiKara was a way to have a better sound or I don't know XD) but the chair was comfy, the room wasn't too small and the TV was ok in the end.
However the rooms are not soundproof enough. That's why you could hear your neighbours when you weren't wearing your headphones and... I thought it was a myth but it's not: Japanese can't properly sing. And I don't understand why. They are so lucky to have the best karaoke system in the world (as far as I know) but they sing really badly... I'm not a great singer but I don't sing that much off tune o_O (do I? XD)
But well I'm not here to judge XD (it's just that I was like o_O Whaat) and also if you're good at singing, you wouldn't likely go to a IchiKara. Because the IchiKara has been made for people to improve their singing skill! Because, yes, sometimes you might go to the karaoke with your boss or colleagues and you don't want to be ashamed. Ah Japanese people...
I personally always wanted to go to a karaoke with my colleagues but they weren't as enthusiastic as I was...
I couldn't pick one that looks like me so I took something that looked nothing like me
I could not not sing this one:
Strangely enough, that's the best time I ever had in a karaoke since my birthday. I'm always happy to go with my classmates but let's say that I'm not a big fan of the songs they pick. I don't like English songs that much and singing exclusively in English is quite annoying, specially because the repertoire is really limited.
Today I picked everything I wanted to sing, I didn't wait or whatsoever and I didn't feel lonely at all
And I can confirm that singing always makes me happy I will take note
Not related but today at school we had to write an essay about our life. I don't know why but I used way to much the word "totemo" (means "very"). Like: I like karaoke very much. I like music very much. Me is very happy apparently
P.S: I said I would create a "Karaoke" category XD

[Karaoke] Karaoke o/
XD
